Terms of Service

Registering for and participating in the improv classes provided by Improv with Rob require that you read and fully agree to the Terms of Service.  Throughout this agreement, terms such as “we”, “our”, or “us” are used to also identify Improv with Rob.  Class will take place every Wednesday August 25 - September 29 from 6-8 pm at Station 34, 34 S Main St, Mount Prospect and the Showcase will take place on October 13 at 6 pm at the Moose Lodge, 601 N Main Street, Mount Prospect.

Class Registration Policy

Students must register online. If you are concerned about missing more than one class, or if your schedule is uncertain, we recommend you wait before signing up. While we do our best to keep the same instructor throughout all classes, there is no guarantee that every scheduled day of class will have the same instructor. No refunds will be given because you had a substitute teacher.

Withdrawals and Refunds

Students who withdraw from class up to 5 days before the class starts will receive a refund, minus a $25 withdrawal fee. Students who withdraw less than 5 days before the class starts will receive a refund, minus a $75 late withdrawal fee. Enrollment is locked after the first class occurs, and no refunds will be given after the first class concludes.

There will be a waitlist, for those interested, on a first-come, first-served basis. If a spot opens in the class, individuals will be contacted via email and by phone, and will have 24 hours to respond to claim the waitlist spot. If an individual does not respond in that timeframe, the spot will be forfeited and offered to the next individual on the waitlist. Please email with the subject “Waitlist” to be added to the waitlist. Waitlisted students may join the class in the second week. No one will be added to a class after the second week. Registration costs are not prorated.

Within two days of a class starting, Improv with Rob reserves the right to fill open spots regardless of waitlist position. We will do our best to hold spots based on the list order but decisions to fill an open seat may happen in a matter of hours, including putting the class online available to the public, as opposed to the normal 24 hours.

Weather/Cancellation Policy

Our classes must abide by the venue’s availability. For information about weather closings, expect an email from the class instructor. In case of a cancellation, a make-up class will be scheduled.

Attendance and Lateness Policy

Improv with Rob classes meet for two hours once a week for six weeks and a student showcase. Please check your schedule carefully to ensure that you can attend all class dates. If you expect to miss more than one of the six classes, you should wait until a future set of classes is offered. Students who miss two or more class sessions may be dropped from the class at the instructor’s discretion; no refund or credit will be issued. Please email if you know you will miss a class. If you must miss a class, please check in with your instructor to see what you missed. Make-up classes are not offered.

Being more than 30 minutes late to class will count as an absence. Students who are continually more than 15 minutes late to class may be dropped from the class at the instructor’s discretion; no refund or credit will be issued. Email if you are going to be late. Leaving class 30 minutes early will also count as an absence.

Student Showcase

Participation in the student showcase is not a requirement. Showcases are a ton of fun though and most students prioritize their schedules to be able to perform.

Participation in the showcase is not guaranteed. The showcase date may change due to unforeseen events. If the majority of the class is able to perform on a certain rescheduled date, a showcase may be scheduled for a date that some students cannot attend. If you are absent from the last two classes, your instructor may ask you to not participate in the showcase, as the last two weeks will cover some showcase preparation.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Improv with Rob class program strives to create a welcoming, creative and, most importantly, safe atmosphere for all, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, physical ability, socioeconomic status, citizenship status, or any other identities of those choosing to partake in the classes. Students are a part of creating this atmosphere and those whose conduct violates it will be removed from class by the instructor, with their tuition refunded. Improv with Rob does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, sexual preference, or disability.  Students with disabilities or who need specific accommodations are asked to contact prior to registration to discuss appropriate available accommodations.

Improv with Rob retains absolute control over its class enrollment, and has the right to remove any student from class at any time for any reason, on a temporary or on a permanent basis, at the instructor’s sole discretion with full tuition refunded.  A removal of a student from a class is never done lightly, but sometimes it may be necessary to maintain a welcoming, safe, and creative atmosphere.

At this time, classes are being offered for individuals who are 21 years of age or older. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.

Discrimination and Harassment

We aim to promote an environment for our classes, performances, and other work that is free of discrimination and harassment. Discrimination and harassment of instructors or any other participant is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. Instructors will be diligent in preventing such conduct.

It shall be prohibited for any instructor or class participant to engage in verbal, pictorial or written abuse referencing age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ancestry, color, religion, ability, socioeconomic status, education status, citizenship status, or any other identity which is unwelcome and substantially interferes with an individual’s participation.

Additionally, there is a zero-tolerance sexual harassment policy, which includes unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and/or unwarranted verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature that creates discomfort with another individual or individuals. In addition to the above examples, other sexually oriented conduct, whether it is intended or not, that is unwelcome and has the effect of creating an environment that is hostile, offensive, intimidating, or humiliating to other individuals may also constitute sexual harassment.

Class participants should immediately contact the instructor with any issues with other class participants, whether it be during/after a class, or immediately as possible after a situation occurs.

You hereby fully and completely release and waive any and all claims for personal injury or loss, including costs and attorneys’ fees, that may arise against Improv with Rob, including its instructors, volunteers, students, or other persons associated with its classes, showcase, or other activities. This release and waiver apply to any personal injury or loss that may occur as a result of any other program or activity of Improv with Rob.

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Improv with Rob and/or any subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, officers, directors, agents, contractors, licensors, service providers, subcontractors, suppliers, interns and employees, harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third-party due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms of Service or the documents they incorporate by reference, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third-party.

These Terms of Service are effective unless and until terminated by either you or by Improv with Rob or any of its affiliates. Entire Terms of Service Agreement

The failure of us to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms of Service shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. These Terms of Service and any policies or operating rules posted by us on this site or in respect to the Services constitutes the entire agreement and understanding between you and us and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior or contemporaneous agreements, communications and proposals, whether oral or written, between you and us (including, but not limited to, any prior versions of the Terms of Service). Any ambiguities in the interpretation of these Terms of Service shall not be construed against the drafting party.

Code of Respect

In order for the fun to reach its maximum potential, it is important that all students agree to the following.

Our spaces are not our own. Be nice to the spaces that we are given access to, including the walls, chairs, lights, tables, and any other elements of the spaces that are used for classes and performances. After classes and performances, make sure any trash is disposed of and that you leave all spaces cleaner than you found them. Class participants are responsible for any damages they create to the spaces utilized for the classes and performances.

We understand that life is busy and unpredictable, but please arrive on time to the best of your ability, attend class unless you absolutely cannot, and save non-class related business for before or after class or during breaks. Show up ready to learn, and respect the use of time to complete all of the week’s activities.

As improvisational comedy is deeply rooted in trust, we expect that participants respect all other class participants and the instructor. Supporting your classmates, both on and off stage, will ensure success for both them and you. Please avoid eating, drinking alcohol, texting, email, or other sorts of electronic messaging during class. Do not come to class under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Be polite and respectful. Respect physical and emotional boundaries. Do not bring guests to class, as they will be asked to leave. Treat everyone with the amount of respect that you expect in return.
